Observership in Optometry

This course offers an opportunity to upgrade necessary clinical and technical skills of the Optometrists who are already in the practice or the students who are just passed out and looking for an exposure of the excellent eye care practice through lectures and rotational postings in different clinics such as Paediatric optometry, Orthoptics, Contact Lens, Low Vision And Rehabilitation, Cornea, Glaucoma, Retina, Oculoplasty, Community Eye Care and Ophthalmic Dispensing.

The selected candidates would also be able to observe the diagnostic procedures such as Applanation Tonometry, Non-contact Tonometry, Keratometry, Corneal Topography, Directs and Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, A-scan biometry, Automated field analysis, Pachymetry, B-scan, Ophthalmic Photography and other such subjects.

Interested candidates are requested to send their Resume with the reference of at least two senior persons from Optometry or Ophthalmology background.

Duration of Course

Two months

 

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must have completed his Degree or Diploma in Optometry from a recognized University/ College.

 

Session commences

Dec, Feb, April, June, Aug and Oct every year.

 

Number of seats

One candidate per session

 

Course Fees

Candidate or the sponsor will have to pay the amount of 5000/- through the Demand Draft/Cheque/Cash in the favor of Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital well in advance.

 

Application procedure

Interested candidates are requested to submit their bio-data with the reference of at least two senior persons from Optometry or Ophthalmology background and photocopy of certificates.

 

Accommodation

Will be provided within the hospital campus at nominal charges (in the condition of unavailability of Hostel the candidate will need to make his own arrangement for the stay).

 

Food/Meals

Can be availed from the Hospital canteen at the subsidized rates

 

Facilities

24-hour library – which contains multiple volumes of journals in addition to books, computers with DSL Internet connection, CD-ROMS, Videos, slide collection, and audiotapes.   

 

Expectations

Students coming for the Observership are expected to be serious and focused about learning. A strict clinical postings curriculum will be followed, and punctuality, thoroughness, conscientiousness and a professional approach will be expected.
