The
objective is to train relatively
senior ophthalmologists who
are interested in developing
the subspecialty in their hospital.
By virtue of the seniority it
is expected that there is no
need for hands-on surgical training.
The candidate should be able
to gain form the spectrum of
the disease seen and the individualized
management options exercised
in the course of three months.

The
applicant should
have the potential
to develop the
subspecialty service
at their location.

Applications
must be accompanied
by curriculum
vitae and photocopy
of certificates.
Eligibility
Practicing
ophthalmic surgeons
with experience
in the specialty/subspecialty.
Course
Curriculum:
Clinical
The
Fellow will be
trained in the
use of applanation
tonometry, gonioscopy,
slit-lamp biomicroscopy,
indirect ophthalmoscopy
and stereoscopic
disc evaluation
(78D lens) automated
perimetry.
Diagnostics
The
Fellow will be
trained in the
use of automated
perimetry, short-Wave
automated perimetry,
stereoscopic disc
photography, optical
coherence tomography
(OCT).
An
opportunity for
'hands on' surgery
is not provided,
but the trainee
will be allowed
to assist in all
types of glaucoma
surgeries.
Ancillary
facilities
The
library is well
equipped with
Videos, CDs and
journals. Access
to the Internet
and on-line databases
like Medline are
also available.
The fellows will
also have an access
to a well-equipped
surgical wet laboratory.
During the fellowship,
fellows present
cases, journal
articles relevant
to the specialty
at the teaching
session and conduct
seminars.
